Its missions include the management, operation and equipment of the contry's four ports (Douala/Bonaberi which is pressently the country's major port with 95 % of traffic ; Kribi, Garoua and Limbe. Tiko considered as secondary ports) with the possibility, should circumstances require it, to set up other port areas.

Geographical Situation: Porto Grande benefit from excellent natural and environmental conditions. It is located in a semicircular 2 km-radius basin, with depth from 10 m to 30 m. It is sheltered by neighbouring San Antao island, allowing a safe access to the bay and to the berths. All year long, weather conditions are good, allowing a restriction-free use of the port, at any season and any time of the day.
