Offices are closed during these holidays, but this does not affect loading unloading operations which are accounted for as overtime. Cape Verde being an island and its geographic location can help explain the importance of maritime and port sectors, which are essential factors in the country's socio-economic development. Porto da Praia

Its missions include the management, operation and equipment of the contry's four ports (Douala/Bonaberi which is pressently the country's major port with 95 % of traffic ; Kribi, Garoua and Limbe. Tiko considered as secondary ports) with the possibility, should circumstances require it, to set up other port areas.

Porto Grande

Geographical Situation: Porto Grande benefit from excellent natural and environmental conditions. It is located in a semicircular 2 km-radius basin, with depth from 10 m to 30 m. It is sheltered by neighbouring San Antao island, allowing a safe access to the bay and to the berths. All year long, weather conditions are good, allowing a restriction-free use of the port, at any season and any time of the day.
