Sao Tome & Principe

Situated on the E coast of the island. Capital and principal port of Sao Tome and Principe.

Pilotage: Not available.
Accommodation: Open roadstead. Vessels anchor in the Bahia de Ana Chaves, in depths of 10 m. There is a 200 m long jetty in front of the town with a depth alongside of approx. 2.5 m at LW, where landing can be effected. Lighters are available and there are two cranes on shore, one fixed of 23 t cap. and one mobile of 5 t cap. to handle cargo. The main export is cocoa ; other cargoes handled for export include palm oil, coffee, coconuts and coprah.
