Sacramento, CA – Meals on Wheels California (MOWCA) is proud to announce the appointment of Willy Gloria as its new Executive Director. With a distinguished track record in senior nutrition advocacy and nonprofit leadership, Willy steps into the role following years of impactful service at Meals on Wheels San Diego County, where he most recently served as Chief Impact & Advocacy Officer.
Willy brings more than seven years of dedicated experience advancing initiatives that support the health, dignity, and independence of older adults. His work has been instrumental in expanding service capacity, securing essential funding, and building strategic partnerships that have deepened the reach and impact of senior nutrition programs across the state.
“As I step into the role of Executive Director for Meals on Wheels California, I am both humbled and excited to continue the incredible work that Daryl Twerdahl has led with such dedication and passion,” said Gloria. “Daryl’s leadership, commitment, and the strong relationships she has built have shaped MOWCA into the impactful organization it is today. I look forward to honoring that legacy and advancing our mission to ensure no senior goes hungry in California.”
Outgoing Executive Director Daryl Twerdahl has been a guiding force at MOWCA, leaving a legacy of service, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to California’s seniors. Reflecting on the transition, she shared:
“I will miss my Meals on Wheels family. It has been a privilege and an honor to work with all of you over the years. Now, it is time to pass the MOWCA legacy to Willy Gloria. I could not be more thrilled or confident in his ability to lead. His integrity, energy, and compassion are exactly what MOWCA needs to continue driving forward. Please stand by him as he leads us into the future.”
As MOWCA looks ahead, we are energized by Willy’s leadership and the opportunity to build on our shared vision—a California where every senior has access to the nutrition, services, and community they need to thrive.
Please join us in welcoming Willy Gloria to the helm of MOWCA. We’re excited for what lies ahead—and we look forward to connecting with our members and partners at the upcoming MOWCA Conference next week in Sacramento.
